Enjoy your long weekend!
I lived with the first prototype for a couple of weeks. I thought the function could be better. Back to the drawing board to answer the question “how do you hit the function you want, and make it pretty?” “Without using a hook or alligator type clamp.” Back to Google, what am I looking for, I don’t know. I am just looking at different images to see what we can use to make the zipper pull. If we can improve the performance of the off slot design how do you make it pretty?
Wow I just checked Google, and it’s a zipper pull on the market that hits the function we want and it’s pretty. Don’t trust it on invisible zippers, wouldn’t pay the asking price for the product. I made Vince aware of the product; he said “we can do better than that.” Yes we can. Vince’s idea was to do an off slot that can catch the zipper handle. Let’s try it and how do you make it pretty. I am a girl, I like pretty. I picked up the prototype and used it for a few days. It did work but not so well. Back to the drawing board...
Now we can get to work on the zipper pull (no name yet).
I meet with Vince at his office; we discussed the function and what we didn’t want. I loved that Vince and I were in agreement, we didn’t want a hook or an alligator type clamp. I don’t think or see things like everybody else and now I know I have found the right person for the job. Vince thinks out of the box like me! But how do we make something to attach to the zipper handle and make it pretty?
Vince called back as promised, YES! He agreed to take the project, YES! It’s it coming on Christmas, we decided we will start he project January 2013. YES! I can’t wait to take the project to the next level; I can’t through the holidays fast enough. Hurry up 2013, Yes! The project should take no longer than six months. Sounds like a plan.
Now I have the written specs, but no designer. Back to the list. I spoke to several more designers, all signed NDA’s (non-disclosure agreement). Not a good fit, keep looking. Feeling discouraged, no return calls. I will try one more on the list. I called Juliana Designs; hey I might be on to something. I enjoyed the conversation with Vince, he sounded excited about the project. He promised to call me back in few days. I am hope he calls me back…
Now I have a list of designers and I have researched what they do. I called a few, some didn’t return my call, I guy told me I was ahead of myself since he worked for the manufacturer. I would need to provide him the specs. Jackpot I found a firm. We have an appointment to meet. We discussed the project, they wrote up the specs. So far so good, right? Not, I noticed some language in their contract, had a few questions and they never answered the questions. Now I am back to the drawing board. At least I have some written research.
